We were pleasantly surprised with this place; we came here for our honeymoon. Plenty of things needed to make it an awesome vacation. From all the dishes you can imagine so you can cook your own food to outdoor adventures. The location was amazing, stores near by and restaurants you could walk to and the view from the lanai was exceptional. The owner was the best of all, he was fast to reply to any questions we had and he kept us informed every time a new weather report was out, and making sure we were safe at all times. It was as if he was there with us, it made us feel so secure. We were there when Hurricane Lane was going through the islands. His recommendations for restaurants and places to see were very nice to have since we have never been here before. I would recommend this place to all my friends and family who are visiting Maui. The managers of the place were also very helpful and took great care of the environment and kept posting any news on the Hurricane and what to do in case we have to evacuate. We couldn't visit too many places since most of the attractions were cancelled in preparation of the Hurricane, but we enjoyed the time we spent there, we had some great dinners at the restaurants the owner suggested and visited Front Street in Lahaina before it got hit by the Hurricane and Maui Tropical Plantation and found out lots of interesting things about what grows here. It is for sure that we will return, we need to do a second honeymoon since we didn't get to do all we wanted on the first one.
I could tell you about the spotless, comfortable and lovely apartment that HK0K208 is, that the location and view is out of this world, that Adam and Michelle are the most thoughtful hosts I’ve ever encountered – all would be true, and are the reason we’ll never look elsewhere to stay. But this time, I’ll share a bit of our experience, and why we look forward to coming back a third time, and a forth, and…
We when we started thinking about what to do for our 35th anniversary, it really took only a moment for us to decide. We couldn’t think of anything more delightful than coming back to HK208 on the beach in Kihei. It was a perfect decision, as was the stay. On our first trip, we experienced jaw-dropping amazement at the rich flora and fauna, the varied personalities of the ocean, the many unique microcosms as we explored this wonderful island of Maui. Now, as I reflect on this trip, it strikes me how much it was the people who made this time here so special. Aloha is an attitude reflected everywhere. From fascinating conversations with museum curators, to daily chats with the guys working at the grocery store. Everywhere, Aloha. One evening, as we looked out over our lanai to a group below “blowing the conchs” at sunset, we were invited to come down and try our hand at it. As it turned out, it was none other than the super friendly property managers and some other guests. When I replay that video of my husband finally getting a long, deep, beautiful sound out of his shell trumpet, I know that it is everything together – the people and the place - than makes it so special here. I hope you are so lucky as to find your own treasures here.
Everything we could have imagined and wanted for our 25th anniversary trip. From coffee in the morning to wine in the evening and all the comforts in between. The area was to convienent to everywhere we wanted to be. Walks on the beach, watching the sunset on our Lana’i, and the comfort of knowing that Adam was just a phone call away made for the perfect trip. Our trip of a lifetime and this condo was a huge part of this. Loved it.
A perfect stay. Finally, the time to sit back and enjoy all the comforts of your place . . . our lanai overlooking the ocean and the deep blue Pacific was home-base during our stay. Your extra touches made it particularly special; the Prosecco was enjoyed the night we arrived, while we sat there, mesmerized, by one of the nicest sunsets we’ve ever seen. And with a front-row seat!
For some time now, you’ve welcomed me for short stays on my way back from trips where Hawaii was the stop-over. This was the first visit for both of us, and it was perfect in every way. The care you’ve taken in making your place so special is always evident, and appreciated, but I can now say that it’s particularly impressive when one has a longer stay in which to truly enjoy it.
It’s a stunning apartment in the perfect location. I look forward to my next visit, and the two of us are already making our plans for another stay next year.
Walking the beach, sitting on the balcony every morning with that cup of coffee in hand, reflecting...Maui brought relaxation, peace and calm to the mind. The owners are super at communicating, the condo is stocked with everything you need and more, very clean, the bed is very comfortable...10 stars all the way!
I have always wanted to visit Hawaii. Last year, I dreamed of being there on my 60th birthday. Not ever having been to Maui, and having only received advice from a friend that South Maui is the better place to stay (because it is quieter and more central to the multitude of sites), we were nervous about finding a place that would be comfortable, safe, relaxed, clean and quiet, that really would be right on the beach (as advertised) -- a place where we could feel good about spending all of the money and time commitment it took to get there. I spent hours and hours searching VRBO's website (and others). Adam's description of his and Michelle's condo spoke to me. The photographs attracted me. After several evenings of fretting and hesitating, I hit the "book now" button. I'm so glad I did. Our vacation was wonderful in every way. The condo is just as described. The photos we snapped on our cellphones look just like these. And I have a gorgeous sunset photo that we plan to enlarge, frame and hang in our home. We truly felt like Adam and Michelle were our hosts. Adam was very responsive to our questions and calmed our nervousness. The details that we particularly appreciated were the beach towels and chairs, the binoculars, the very quiet dishwasher, the comfortable mattress and two comfortable couches, the Hawaiian music CD's, the washing machine, the quality linens and dishware, and the Kona coffee. We liked that the condo building was small (about 50 units, I think). The managers (John and Sue) were visible and puttered around as loving caretakers. The property is on a quiet street, one block away from the "main road", so you don't hear road noise, but it is a very easy walk to several really good restaurants and the grocery store. On my 60th birthday, I walked the beach, sunned on the beach, and played in the water, right outside our door! It was a dream come true!
Our sixth time renting this unit. We keep coming back as it's a beautiful property and right on the beach (not many properties in Kihei have this). This unit has all the amenities of home, is tastefully decorated with a Hawaiian theme, and the view from the lanai is fabulous. The owners are great to deal with, have maintained the unit to perfection throughout the years and recently have updated their appliances as well. The first time we walked thru the door of 208 we both said WOW!! We sit on the balcony for hours and watch: turtles in the surf, fifty swaying palm trees, paddle boarders, kite surfers, or the various birds singing. The beach is safe to walk and swim in. Often you get the opportunity to swim with turtles or see them sunning on the beach. Thank you Michelle and Adam for all the love you put into 208. Sue and Brian
This is our second trip to Kihei but one of several to Maui. This time our online search brought us to Hale Kai O'Kihei. We were searching for beachfront access, quality accomodations, and beautiful views. This condo offered it all and delivered in every way. Probably the most well equipped condo we have experienced in Maui, there is everything you could possibly need. Much time and care has been put into making this condo inviting and extra special. Our mornings (sometimes all morning) were spent sipping coffee on the Lanai over looking the ocean or watching young families gather around the pool below. Just a few steps from the condo lazy walks took us from one beautiful beach to another. It was never to far to go for a meal, drinks or just shop around if we cared to do so. However we were always drawn back to the Lanai and a bit of 'bubbly'. Lanai sunscreen for the later afternoon sun was a welcome surprise, we never had to lower so to obstuct any view. This is what we come to Maui for. It's relaxing and captivating. A place where getting on with the day is lightly thought out. Our adventure this time around was travelling through the Upcountry, to the lower Road to Hana, to the coastal area of Kīpahulu where there are the Pools of Ohe’o, freshwater pools and waterfalls set amid bamboo forest. It's a beautiful and sometimes sketchy drive where lava fields meet the ocean and large cattle rule the road. Our hike to the falls was extraordinary! We just love Kihei and Maui is a most beautiful Island. Thank you Adam for your attentiveness Our experience from beginning to end was excellent.
Adam, another short visit en route, and as always, thank you for making it all work. We’ve got a long stay booked later this year, and I cannot wait. Each visit here reminds me how special this place is, and how rare your approach is. One thing I’ve come to enjoy is reading your Guest Book in the apartment; everybody has their own unique visit, but everyone also realizes that this ‘home base’ you’ve created is exceptional in every way. So, a short visit (again!) but one that has whet my appetite for our vacation later this year.
This condo is so welcoming and comfortable. The view, ocean breezes and sunsets from the lanai are magical. The condo is as lovely as we remembered it and Adam, you are an amazing host. Your concern for our comfort and enjoyment when the piece broke off the cooktop and your speed in getting a new one installed speaks volumes about how genuinely you care about the people who stay at HKOK 208. Thank you for the coffee and Prosecco and for use of the great snorkelling gear, cooler, beach chairs and umbrella. We spent two and a half weeks relaxing, swimming, enjoying the sunsets, touring and snorkelling. It is lovely to have a calm, safe swimming beach right out in front of the condo and we again saw turtles on the beach near the condo. We had some heavy rains so the ocean in front of the condo was brown from the rain runoff for a few days . It was perhaps a good thing as it is so perfect here, we are often reluctant to go anywhere else and we did go swimming at other beaches and in the pool those days. We spent a day driving up to the Blow Hole, picnicking and watching boogie boarders at D.T. Fleming park and snorkelling/swimming at Kapalua Beach. Great snorkelling there in calm, shallow waters. Spent a day touring around the Upcountry; viewed the art galleries and glass blowing studio in Makawao. Snorkelling at Secret Cove and Ulua Beach and Keawakapu beach. One early evening, we were at a beach near Paia and saw 40 giant turtles on the beach and more coming out of the ocean, working so hard to make their way up the beach. A wonderful, relaxing holiday! We have rented many condos in many places and have never experienced the level of care and attention to detail, responsiveness and desire to ensure that guests have an amazing time that you so happily provide. Thank you! Donna & Wayne
